What Is EPM Cloud Performance Reporting?

EPM Cloud Performance Reporting is the browser-based reporting and analytics layer within Oracle EPM Cloud that allows users to access financial reports, dashboards, and data visualisations from any browser without installing additional software on their machine. It uses the same data model as the EPM planning and consolidation applications, presenting that data through an interface designed for report consumption rather than data entry — which means a broader audience of business leaders, board members, and non-finance stakeholders can access EPM data through their browser without navigating the planning application directly. For finance leaders who need to share financial data with colleagues who are not EPM users, Performance Reporting is the distribution mechanism.

Where Performance Reporting Sits in the Oracle EPM Ecosystem

Oracle EPM Cloud includes several reporting capabilities with different strengths. Financial Reporting Studio produces formatted, publication-quality reports. Smart View connects EPM data to Excel for analytical work. Narrative Reporting combines financial data with management commentary in a structured document format. EPM Cloud Performance Reporting provides the interactive web-based layer — charts, dashboards, and simple report navigation — for users who need to consume information rather than analyse it. Understanding which tool is appropriate for which use case helps finance leaders avoid building an over-complicated reporting environment that serves no use case particularly well.

What Performance Reporting Delivers for the Non-Finance Audience

The most valuable application of Performance Reporting in a GCC group is delivering entity-level financial summaries to business unit leaders and managing directors who need to see their financial performance but do not use the EPM planning application directly. A managing director in Dubai should be able to open a browser, log in to the EPM environment, and see their entity’s P&L compared to budget for the current month and year-to-date — without calling the finance team for a spreadsheet. Performance Reporting makes this possible through pre-built dashboards that are maintained by the finance team and accessed by the business on demand.

Where Performance Reporting Falls Short

EPM Cloud Performance Reporting is not a substitute for a dedicated BI platform when the reporting requirement is complex, multi-source, or involves significant data visualisation sophistication. For an organisation that needs to combine EPM financial data with ERP operational data, CRM pipeline data, and HR headcount data in a single integrated dashboard, a dedicated BI tool (Oracle Analytics Cloud, Power BI, or equivalent) will produce better results. Performance Reporting is the right choice when the reporting requirement is primarily EPM data presented to a non-technical audience in a straightforward format. It is the wrong choice when the data engineering and visualisation requirements go beyond what a finance-team-maintained EPM reporting layer can support.

How Loop Wise Solutions Works with Performance Reporting

We design the reporting landscape holistically — identifying which reports belong in FR Studio, which in Smart View, which in Performance Reporting, and which require a separate BI platform — and we document the rationale for each design decision. Finance leaders who understand why each report is delivered through each channel are better positioned to maintain and extend the reporting landscape themselves than those who inherited a reporting environment designed by the implementation team without explanation.
