Management reporting design is the structured process of defining what financial and operational information leadership receives, in what format, at what frequency, and organised around what decision framework — producing a reporting architecture that enables executives and board members to make informed decisions rather than one that displays the data available from the systems that generate it.
The distinction between reporting that is designed and reporting that has accumulated is visible in almost every large enterprise in the GCC. Designed reporting answers specific questions: what is our performance against plan across the dimensions that matter for decisions (entity, business line, geography, product), where are the variances that require management attention, what is the forward-looking position given current run-rate, and what decisions are available to the leadership team given that position.
