What is EPBCS / PBCS?

PBCS and EPBCS are Oracle's cloud-based financial planning and budgeting products — the successors to Hyperion Planning. Learn the difference and which fits your organisation.

Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS) and Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (EPBCS) are Oracle’s cloud-based financial planning applications — the successors to Hyperion Planning — providing multi-dimensional budgeting, driver-based forecasting, workforce planning, capital planning, and scenario modelling on Oracle’s cloud infrastructure.

PBCS covers core financial planning: multi-dimensional models, budget workflows, variance analysis, and integration with Oracle ERP and EPM modules. EPBCS extends PBCS with pre-built planning frameworks for workforce, capital, projects, and financials, reducing the custom configuration required for common planning use cases.

Both products receive quarterly updates from Oracle and are hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, which means organisations always run the current release without managing their own patching or infrastructure. For organisations migrating from Hyperion Planning, PBCS or EPBCS is the destination — but migration requires careful assessment of existing business rules, dimension structures, and ERP integration layers, particularly for enterprises in the GCC with Arabic-language configurations or ZATCA-related reporting requirements.
