What is Narrative Reporting?

Oracle Narrative Reporting combines financial data from Oracle EPM with management commentary into board packs, annual reports, and regulatory disclosures — inside the EPM environment.

Oracle Narrative Reporting is Oracle’s EPM product for producing structured management reports, board packs, and disclosure documents that combine financial data from Oracle EPM with formatted narrative and commentary — enabling finance teams to produce their complete reporting output within the EPM environment rather than extracting data to Word or PowerPoint.

The core problem Narrative Reporting addresses is the disconnect between the financial data in the EPM system and the management reporting that finance teams produce. In most organisations, the close produces validated financial data in FCCS or Planning, and the finance team then extracts that data into Excel, formats it into a reporting template, writes commentary in Word, and assembles a board pack in PowerPoint — a process that is time-consuming, error-prone, and difficult to audit. Narrative Reporting brings that assembly process into the EPM environment, with live data connections to FCCS and Planning, collaborative commentary authoring, version control, and publication workflows.

For GCC and Egyptian enterprises producing board packs in both English and Arabic, Narrative Reporting supports bilingual document production within the same template, which reduces the manual duplication of the Arabic and English versions of the management pack.
